(WBNG Binghamton) A documentary is being produced to bring awareness to Preeclampsia (HELLP) by telling the story of approximately 160 families in our country who have been affected by this syndrome which has tragically resulted in the death of mother and/or baby.
According to a news release:
A local fundraiser, at Owego Free Academy is being held to support the family of Kristie Rubino. Kristie's sister is Koren Rubino, a Physical Education teacher and Modified Lacrosse Coach at OAMS. Kristie lost her life on August 1, 2011 shortly after giving birth to her son, Brody. Her death was due to complications of the HELLP syndrome.
The fundraiser will be held on Friday, April 26th at Owego Free Academy. There will be a student handball tournament at 4:30 pm, a JV Girls Lacrosse game at 5:30 pm, and a Varsity Girls Lacrosse game at 7:30 pm. Admission is free. Concessions will be available starting at 4:30 pm.
There will be a Basket Raffle and a jump rope performance at one of the halftimes. Donations to the cause will be accepted.
