Dr. Hemant Gupta Joins Southern Tier HealthLink Board of Directors

(WBNG Binghamton) Southern Tier HealthLink on Thursday announced that Dr. Hemant Gupta of Lourdes Hospital is joining the STHL Board of Directors.

According to a news release:

Dr. Gupta is the Chief Medical Informatics Officer  of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, in partnership with Ascension Health, the nation’s largest nonprofit healthcare provider.

There his duties include, but are not limited to, overseeing and strategically planning IT needs for the health care staff and the organization at large, as well as allied health departments connecting to the EMR.

Dr. Gupta is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Dr. Gupta is a board certified internal medicine physician, and has five years of combined experience as a community hospitalist, a primary care physician and an academic hospitalist.

He has been in medical informatics for over a decade and has extensive knowledge in clinical decisions support systems and EMRs. Dr. Gupta also worked as a medical information officer (MIO) at Holyoke Medical Center, Holyoke, MA where he coordinated and completed the rollout of computerized provider order entry and physician documentation for the hospital.

Of his appointment to the Southern Tier HealthLink Board of Directors, Dr. Gupta commented, “It was a pleasure meeting Christina Galanis and the STHL staff. I look forward to working closely with our HIE as it transitions to New York eHealth Collaborative (NYeC) and it’s Statewide Health Information Network of New York (SHIN-NY) platform. Greater heights can be achieved through honest collaboration.”
