(WBNG Binghamton) The City of Elmira Department of Public Works will be ending curb-side pickup of brush and limbs at the close of business on Monday, August 27.
According to a news release:
After this date, it is the responsibility of the property owner to remove and dispose of any limbs and brush. Our previous press release had stated that we would end pickup on August 10; we added extra time to give residents ample opportunity to haul brush to the curbside.
To assist property owners with future removal of brush after the August 27 deadline, the City has the following options available:
1. Reserve a Dial-A-Truck at the City Clerk’s Office. For a fee of $30, a dump truck will be left curbside; residents may load the truck with any trees, limbs, brush, grass, etc., that will fit in the bed. The City will remove the truck the following business day.
2. Utilize the City’s free compost site located on Industrial Park Boulevard Extension, near the City Yards. The compost site is currently open from 5pm until sunset on weekdays, and from sunrise to sunset on holidays and weekends. Residents can drop off organic material, including trees, limbs, brush, grass, etc.; it will be turned into compost that is made available free to residents.
