Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Zoo celebrated as Leroy and Elaine, our two North American River Otters, welcomed their first pup exactly one year ago on March 26th, 2010.
Emmet is the first otter to be born at the Binghamton Zoo in our 135 year history.
Emmet is all grown up now and ready to head out into the world.
He will be moving across the country to Denver, Colorado where he will move into the North America exhibit at the Downtown Aquarium.
Join us as we celebrate his first birthday and this next milestone for Emmet the Otter.
On Saturday March 26th, the zoo will be hosting a tour up to the woodland waters building to see Emmet and his family.
The tour will be guided by our education staff and start in the lower parking lot where we’ll work our way up the zoo stopping at a few of the exhibits on the way.
At the otter exhibit, visitors will be treated to a keeper talk while the otters get a special lunch.
Come early and enjoy some otter family fun in our education center by creating an otter habitat, dressing like an otter and completing a craft to take home.
Activities will run from 9:30am to 11:00am.
The tour will start promptly at 11:00am and last approximately an hour and a half.
Admission for this event is $3.00 a person and includes all otter activities and tour of the zoo.
Registration is encouraged but not required.
