Johnson City, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) John Covelli, and guests Jacqui Kerrod and Marc Uys, will present an afternoon of music for a Mother’s Day concert.

The concert will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 11 at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage, located at 46-48 Willow St. in Johnson City at the Goodwill Theatre.

This is the third annual Classical Piano Plus! Series Concert to take place. The series consists of three concerts featuring Maestro John Covelli, of the Binghamton Philharmonic, at the piano.

The upcoming Mother's Day concert is the third and final concert in the series.

“The Classical Piano Plus series with John Covelli and friends is always highly anticipated,” says Naima Kradjian, CEO of Goodwill Theatre Inc. “We are very excited to have Jacqui Kerrod back for the first time since 2009. This will definitely be unique with the addition of Jacqui and Marc Uys.”

Kerrod will be on harp and her husband, Marc Uys, on violin. Kerrod maintains a varied career as soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has played as a member of the Metropolitan Opera, New York Philharmonic and New York City Opera.

Uys has been developing and exploring South African music for a number of years. A native of South Africa, Uys was the first violinist of the Sontonga Quartet, widely regarded as the leading string quartet in that country. He and Kerrod formed the duo "Clockwise" and have toured extensively across South Africa and throughout the world.

The program will include works by Dmitri Kabalevsky, Claude Debussy, Robert Schumann, Charles Griffes and Alberto Ginastera.

Additionally, Covelli will premiere a sonata written by local composer Santino DeAngelo.

Tickets for John Covelli and Friends are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Tickets can be purchased online here or by calling the box office at (607) 772-2404, ext. 301.
