(WBNG Binghamton) Maine-Endwell, Whitney Point and Windsor are joining several other local school districts in extending the payment period for school taxes.
Under an extension recently approved by Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration, property owners in 12 area districts have until Oct. 21 to pay their school tax bills without interest or penalties.
The other districts include Binghamton City Schools, Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley, Deposit, Johnson City, Owego-Apalachin, Susquehanna Valley, Union-Endicott and Vestal.
The extension, approved through the state Department of Tax and Finance, allows taxpayers to take up to 21 additional days to pay their bills without fear of added interest or penalties.
