(WBNG Binghamton) The Second Annual We Honor Veterans’ motorcycle ride to benefit Hospice will take place later this summer on August 10th.

According to a news release:

The money raised will be allocated to provide services to Veterans who reside in Chenango County and opt for Hospice care.

Hospice of Chenango County staff has been educated about the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs that may be specific to Veterans as they approach their final days, weeks, or months of life.

“We are now on a mission to serve Veterans through the challenges they may be facing from illness, isolation or traumatic life experience,” says agency Clinical Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator Kendall Drexler.

The ‘We Honor Veterans’ ride is again being spearheaded by members of The American Legion Post 189 in Norwich, as well as The American Legion Riders.

The Saturday August 10th ride and is open to any rider and passenger for a fee of $10.00 per person. Registration will begin at 9:30am at the American Legion Post at 29 Sheldon Street in Norwich.

The leisurely scenic ride will wind through beautiful Chenango County and include stops where food and water will be provided.  The ride will conclude at Gilligan’s Island in Sherburne around 4:00pm. The public is encouraged to welcome the riders back and show their support of our local Veterans.

“The American Legion was happy to work with Hospice putting this fundraiser together,” says Paul Russo a long time member of the Legion Riders. “Veterans have given so much to their fellow countrymen, and sacrificed so much. All the money raised at this event will help Veterans be more comfortable at the end of life.”
