(WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Zoo is preparing for a great October, with Howl-O-Weekends (formerly Family Boo at the Zoo) and Boo at the Zoo right around the corner.

According to a news release issued this week:

Howl-O-Weekends will be held on October 5th & 6th, 12th & 13th, and 19th & 20th. There will be activities that are perfect for children between the ages of 3 and 10 years old. Children that attend in costume can enter our costume contest for a chance to win prizes. They can also enjoy ghostly miniature golf, pumpkin bowling, crafts, face painting, and much more! Plus, every child who participates in the games and activities will earn trick or treat prizes. Pumpkin painting will also be available for an extra $2.00, which includes the pumpkin to take home!

On Saturday, October 5th, our baby red panda Zhin-Li, will see the outdoors for the very first time! Starting this Saturday, Zhin-Li and his mother will have access to the outside portion of their exhibit daily from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Keep in mind that although mom and baby have outside access, they can stay indoors if they so choose.
Are you afraid of the dark? The Binghamton Zoo’s annual “Boo at the Zoo” will be held on October 25th and 26th to all those brave enough to enter the park. Come enjoy the haunted zoo and see horrifying scenes and creatures roaming around, including spiders, ghosts, and more! The event will be held from 6:30pm-9:30pm with the last ticket sold at 9:00pm.

Unlike Howl-O-Weekends, this event is geared towards our older zoo guests and not recommended for those under 10 years old. Strollers will not be permitted during the event. Guests are welcome to wear costumes to Boo at the Zoo if they so choose, but masks are NOT allowed in the event.

Free parking and shuttle will be available at UHS parking lot on Penn Ave near Weis plaza.

Admission for the Howl-O-Weekends and Boo at the Zoo is only $6.00 for members and $8.00 for non-members. For more information on Howl-O-Weekends and Boo at the Zoo, please visit the Binghamton Zoo’s website at www.rossparkzoo.com or call the office at 607-724-5461.
