(WBNG Binghamton) SUNY Broome Community College is offering tuition amnesty for former students. The program, which starts March 31st, allows students the chance to pay half of what they owe on balances incurred prior to the Fall 2011 semester, and return to school.
According to a news release:
The college is accepting applications via an online form. This one-time-only program runs through April 18th.
The SUNY Broome Community College Tuition Amnesty Program assists individuals in clearing their financial debt owed to the College. The amnesty program allows individuals to pay half of what is owed on their account and settle their debt in full with the College. This program covers all debts on an individual’s balance related to tuition, fees, and fines.
Students who wish to return to SUNY Broome Community College under the Amnesty Program must complete an online financial literacy/education workshop.
The following benefits are available when an account is cleared:
• Students are eligible to return and complete their college education.
• Students gain access to transcripts for transfer to another college or university, or for employment purposes.
• Students can improve credit scores which can result in lower interest rates when financing purchase like a home or car.
Individuals who have a balance owed to the College prior to the Fall 2011 semester.
When is it available?
The program will be from March 31st 2014 through April 18th 2014. No extensions will be made.
