Shostakovich Symphony No. 6

Rome has inspired countless generations of artists, none more so than composer Ottorino Respighi, who wrote three tone poems (Fountains of Rome, Pines of Rome and Roman Festivals) which magically evoke the Eternal City.

Italy also inspired English composer Edward Elgar's delightful overture In the South (Alassio), written during a family holiday on the Riviera.

Composed after a traumatic period of public denunciation and rehabilitation, the Symphony No. 6 stands as one of Shostakovich's most deeply personal and moving utterances.

Maestro Novo's deep affinity for Shostakovich's music will make this concert an unforgettable experience.
