(WBNG Binghamton) The Tioga United Way held its 2012-2013 annual campaign kick-off on September 13 at the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club.
According to a news release:
Partner Agencies and businesses attended the buffet dinner hosted by the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club to announce the 2012-2013 Campaign goal of $300,000, and hear first-hand accounts of Tioga United Way’s positive impact upon four Partner Agencies: A New Hope Center, ACCORD, Southern Tier Alternative Therapies and the Red Cross.
Barbara and Ken Bohling of Owego were recognized for being the first individual donors and the Community Care Network of Nichols was recognized as the first Partner Agency to have 100% employee participation in the upcoming campaign as a pacesetter organization.
“Tioga United Way funded agencies assisted almost 18,000 residents of Tioga County last year through the generosity of individuals, corporations, small businesses, and government employees,” said Brian Eldridge, Executive Director of Tioga United Way. “Faced with the 2011 damage, Partner Agencies continue to assist residents through many of the lingering post-flood financial and emotional issues that remain, making this 2012-2013 campaign as important as ever.
United Way volunteers will soon be calling upon local businesses to arrange delivery of pledge materials and to request assistance with distribution and presentations. “We ask our business partners and donors to continue their generosity so that we may continue our long-term service to the community” said Eldridge.
