(WBNG Binghamton) The Town of Vestal Police Department will celebrate National Night Out 2012 with its 15th Annual Cruise-In & Cook-Out on Tuesday August 7th from 6-9pm in the Parkway Plaza parking lot across from Target.
According to a news release:
• Come see all the cars on display or bring your own to show. All classes of cars are welcome to “cruise in” for display. The cook-out will include hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks and Gramp’s Funnel Cakes & Fried Dough. Proceeds from the Cook Out will be donated to the Broome County Crime Victim’s Assistance Center. Members of the Center will be present providing information about their work. Crisis counselors from Project Renew will be on hand to discuss flood-related issues and distribute literature.
• National Night Out events are held throughout the country in over 15,000 communities. The event is designed to 1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; 2) generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; 3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and 4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
• Members of the Vestal Police Department will be present to provide child safety seat inspections, child ID kits and other safety and crime prevention information. The Vestal Police Emergency Response Vehicle will be on display along with a member of the Bicycle Patrol, SWAT Team and K-9 Team. Members of the Vestal Fire Department and Vestal Emergency Squad will also be present with their equipment. Cool 100 will be broadcasting live from the event. (Sponsored in its entirety by M&T Bank).
