(WBNG Binghamton) From bake sales to raise money for victims of Hurricane Sandy to their food drive, Vestal High School’s Interact Club has been busy this year supporting the mission of Rotary International.
According to a news release:
The students’ efforts have been noticed by their sponsoring Vestal Rotary chapter, and they will receive the Changemaker Award on February 21 from Vestal Rotary’s Interact Chair, Rob Flanders. He will present it to the 25 student members of the Interact Club during a meeting that begins at 2:50 p.m. in Room 293 at Vestal High School, 205 Woodlawn Drive.
The Changemaker Award was introduced by Rotary International in 2011 to recognize high school
Interact Clubs that make an extraordinary impact through the avenues of service during the Rotary
Vestal High School’s Interact Club is being recognized with this award for demonstrating a high
degree of community and international service through various projects. In addition to the bake sales for Hurricane Sandy victims and their annual food drive, this year Interact Club members also
participated in the “Trick or Treat for UNICEF.” In past years, the group has made monthly visits to
the Vestal Nursing Center, raised money for the for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and supported the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.
