Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, which was evacuated during the flood, will reopen.
The center’s management is exploring building in a new location, or rebuilding in the current location but with increased flood protection.
The center’s 173 residents were evacuated to eight other long-term care facilities in Broome County.
In the near term, residents will be relocated to facilities in Broome County that have offered to open available unoccupied units.
Other residents have already been admitted to the facilities that accepted them the night of the evacuation; short-stay rehabilitation residents are completing their programs and being discharged home as planned.
Second-floor residents’ belongings were not affected – family members may pick up second floor residents’ personal items at the front circle of Vestal Nursing Center from 1-5 PM on Sunday, September 18, or 8 AM to 4 PM Monday, September 19.
Resident family members with questions may reach Vestal Nursing Center staff via the facility phone number, (607) 754-4105, which has been forwarded to the Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Binghamton; ask for the Vestal Nursing Center office suite.
