Binghamton, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) -- The American Heart Association announced Wednesday that William H Lane Vice President and CFO Mark Mushalla will chair the 2012 Southern Tier Heart Walk.
The Heart Walk will take place on April 29, 2012 at Binghamton University.
Mushalla will lead the organizational and recruitment efforts for the Southern Tier region and enlist the assistance of hundreds of volunteers and business leaders to help reduce disability and death from cardiovascular disease and stroke, while improving the health of all Americans.
Mushalla joined William H Lane Incorporated in 1985 and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a graduate of the Binghamton University School of Management and also serves as an adjunct professor of accounting.
“This region has an exceptionally high rate of cardiovascular diseases,” says Mushalla. “As a volunteer of the American Heart Association, I stand behind the need for additional funding to fight the area’s number one killer. Heart disease has affected my family and it is my hope that the community will show their support in raising lifesaving funds.”
“We are so fortunate to have such dedicated and engaged volunteers that help make our mission possible,” says Gina Chapman, American Heart Association Event Director of the Southern Tier Heart Walk. “Mark’s leadership of our premier fundraising event will help raise awareness for preventative measures in combating our region’s leading health threats.”
The 23rd annual Southern Tier Heart Walk is hoping to raise $225,000 to fund life-saving research, advocacy, training and education programs in the community.
