We caught up with actress Chelsea Ricketts at the red-carpet premiere of Crooked Arrows, a film that pits a Native American reservation’s high school boys’ lacrosse team against the players of an elite prep-school league.
“Because it is a sports movie, you automatically think it’s a guy film, but that is so not true,” Chelsea tells us. “I play Nadie Logan. She’s tough and determined, and she knows what she wants. She plays on the all-boys team, so it truly is like a girl-power thing.
“Girls can be just as tough and strong as boys. There is no difference! Every girl athlete, if this is something you want and love, it’s just like anything else; you just have to work really hard at it.”
What was it like for her, playing with the boys? “I was nervous at first being the only girl. I didn’t know how it was going to be, you know? But they were amazing; they were so respectful and fun. I mean, literally, we all developed like a brother-sister relationship, and I talk to them all the time. I did miss my girl friends though!”
Can’t figure out where you’ve seen Chelsea before? The star has been all over lately; she’s appeared on Disney Channel’s “Zeke and Luther,” as well as CBS’s “CSI: Miami” and ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”
