Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local hospital opens up a new room to help families with the healing process.
Lourdes Hospital cut the ribbon to its children's and family room in the Hospital's pediatric unit.
The room got a makeover from a local organization, A Room to Heal, with some financial help from SEFCU.
Among the featured upgrades: a new paint job, a comfy new couch, and a new flat panel TV with a movable game station.
Kathy Flanders, The Head of the Lourdes Pediactric Unit, says,
"We wanted to see it be family oriented, be a place where families can come and sit together. We had a lot of chairs, child size chairs, that were in the room. Nothing really for an adult."
Since 2005, A Room to Heal has remade 40 rooms in children's homes, as well as two other community projects.
They're all designed to serve as a healing environment to children suffering from serious medical conditions.
