Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The city of Binghamton and Security Mutual Life are teaming up for the 16th consecutive year by hanging 150 flower baskets on decorative lamp posts in the city.

Bruce Boyea, CEO of Security Mutual, said this has become a much-anticipated and much appreciated summer sight in Binghamton.

"Hopefully when you see the beauty of the flowers, when people are coming to town over the summer months, whether they're living here, working here, or visiting we hope that everyone in the Southern Tier gets an opportunity to enjoy the floral baskets that are up here," said Boyea.

The hanging of the red ivy geraniums marks the long-awaited return of summer in the Southern Tier.
