Sheriff's release names of seven killed in Cortland County crash (with photos)

Town of Truxton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Seven people died after a collision between a tractor trailer and a mini van, according to the Cortland County Sheriff's Office.

Cortland County sheriff's deputies said the tractor trailer was headed south just after 6 p.m Wednesday on Route 13 in the town of Truxton when the trailer disconnected and collided with a mini van carrying eight people headed the opposite way.

Seven of those passengers were killed. They are: Teresa Bush, 26, along with her two daughters Alexis Bush, 4, and Jasmine Bush, 5; Lena Beckwith, 21, Carino Vanorden, 24, Alyssa Mead, 7, and Tyler Mead, 4. The lone survivor, Shawn Mead, was transported to Upstate Medical Center for treatment, although the severity of his injuries was not known as of late Wednesday.

Two people were in the tractor trailer at the time, Ryan Dorward, 26, of Manlius, and Duante Newton, 44, were not injured.

Route 13 reopened early Thursday morning. It was closed for hours between Crains Mills and West Keeney roads.
