Apalachin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) No injuries after fire destroys a home in Apalachin, but the cause is under investigation.

Crews responded to the call of a fully involved structure fire at 522 Jewett Hill Road at around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Smoke could be seen from as far away as Johnson City.

The home is considered to be a total loss.

Responders arrived to fire coming from the roof of the building.

Firefighters entered the building and were able to salvage a few items for the homeowners but had to move outside to make a defensive attack.

"Being a holiday, it's tough for volunteers, but we did get strong showings from all our departments and they did the best they could here," said Apalachin fire chief Mike George.

Apalachin, Owego, Campville, and South Side departments responded.
