Binghamton, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) - The line flooded out of the front door at DiRienzo's Bakery on Friday as hungry neighbors hoped to catch the freshest fish in town.
Today marks the third Friday of Lent and for practicing Catholics, that means meals with no meat.
Owners say as word spread about the Lenten lunches, more people stopped by.
"I love Fridays because it helps the business but for Lent, it's overwhelming," says DiRienzo's owner Tony DiRienzo. "Last week, it was 5:30 and everyone tried to get a break but the line was too long. I like it business wise, but it takes a lot out of you."
DiRienzo's sells around 1,000lbs of fish a week at the price of $9.99 per pound.
The fish is skinless, boneless and from Icelandic waters.
Meatless pizzas, seafood soups and mac and cheese are also listed on their Lenten menu.
