Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The spiedies and balloons may be gone from Otsiningo Park, but the festive spirit remains.

The Vestal Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center held its own Spiedie Fest and balloon launch Monday.

Administrator Denise Johnson said the event was created 20 years ago as a way to bring Spiedie Fest to those who can't get to Otsiningo Park.

However, this year was a little different, as residents and administration were forced out of their former home by the flood waters in September.

Currently, the nursing home is renting a unit at Willow Point and two wings at the Greater Binghamton Health Center.

"Little by little we're getting people back and getting settled. We have a couple of years before our new building is up and ready to go, but events like this make it feel like it's the old Vestal Park Rehabilitation Center and part of our home," said Johnson.

The rehabilitation center's new home will be built along Sheedy Road with the help of a $9 million grant.
