Whitney Point, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Looking for an easy family outing this summer?
You don't have to go far.
The Broome County fair begins in Whitney Point.
The rides sat still Tuesday afternoon, but families were waiting for the fun to start up in the evening.
The Broome County Fair offers a full day of activities appropriate for any age.
"That's really what you do this for, you want to see the kids having a good time and you know let the parents take them out and let them see something they did when they were younger and how it keeps on continuing," said BC Fair Treasurer Tom Decker.
"It's kind of a tradition, I remember I was coming when I was little and now I get to take my boys and their friends," said Brian Frost from Whitney Point.
Inside the entertainment building the the Junior Miss Broome County Fair was crowned.
Girls ages nine to 13 all impressed the judges with their talents.
It was Briana Walker who took home the title.
"It feels really good, like I was really nervous, I was shaking, I just wanted to get it over with and now that it's over with and I found out that I won I'm even more excited," said Walker.
Even after 138 years, the Broome County fair always looks for new ways to showcase the main focus.
