Johnson City, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) - Racecar owners show off their flashiest sets of wheels at the Oakdale Mall.
A varity of racing cars are on display at the Southern Tier Speedworld Car Show.
"It's a good fun sport. It's been skewed the way that people look at it over the years," said Ed Billings of Binghamton. "I think that it's getting back to where there are good people in the sport. It's a good, fun sport."
Owners and enthusiasts were there to spread the word about local dirt track racing today.
"There are a lot of tracks in the area. I don't know if a lot of people realize that," Ron Dieffenbach of Binghamton says. "It's all about racing and letting people know that this is what we do."
The show isn't just about racing; it's a chance to showcase innovation as well.
Binghamton University students designed and built an energy efficient car that you can also check out at the show.
The team hopes to have their vehicle run at 1,500 miles per gallon.
