Town of Barker, NY (WBNG Binghamton) New York State Police are investigating a shooting in the Town of Barker.

New York State Police say they responded around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a shooting at 14 North Brotzman Road near Castle Creek.

Andrew Nesbitt, 37, of the residence at that location had a gunshot wound on his side.

Nesbitt was taken to Wilson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nesbitt's wife spoke to Action News Tuesday, saying her 13-year-old son, Nesbitt's step-son, was involved in the incident.

She says it was an accident and Nesbitt suffered from depression.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office tells Action News that Andrew Nesbitt was involved in eight-hour standoff with police back in June of 2010.

The investigation is ongoing.
