Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's always good to eat healthy and get enough sleep, but now some local high school students are trying to enforce those tips - through art.

Vestal High School students designed these healthy habit murals for Clayton Avenue Elementary kids.

This morning, students showed the pieces off to elementary kids and explained the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

The 8 foot long murals took 2 weeks to complete.

Each one shows the Vestal bear doing a healthy activity - from getting enough sleep and exercise, to relieving stress, having good hygiene and eating nutritious food.

"Students had a research component, then they went into a little color psychology; what improves environment with art," said art teacher Melissa Restuccia. "Then they worked in small groups, which is a part of any type of business environment is working with other individuals."

Students say they were excited to share their research with the kids.

The murals will be displayed in the schools gymnasium.
