Apalachin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) 17 cattle are dead, following a tractor trailer rollover this morning on Route 17 West.

State Police have issued two tickets to the driver, Robert Seaton, of Eaton, New York.

One ticket is for an unsafe lane change; the other for defective brakes.

State Police do not know if those were to blame for the crash this morning.

It happened just before Exit 65 in Apalachin, minutes before 5:00 A.M.

State Police say the Seaton lost control of his vehicle in the left lane, and as he tried to correct his vehicle, it overturned.

The trailer was carrying 31 cattle. Seventeen of those died in the crash.

Seaton was not injured.

It took State Police about 8 hours to clear the scene.

Both lanes re-opened around 1:00 P.M. on Monday.
