Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Put on your pajamas and go for a run. More than 300 people help out a local non-profit.

It was a race to the finish line at Otsiningo Park where A Room to Heal held its first Pajama 5K Run and Family fun walk on Sunday.

"We're 100 percent volunteer organization so all money raised will go to help create rooms for kids who need them," said Laura Sehn, A Room To Heal and race Co-Chair.

A Room to Heal creates healing environments for kids in the Broome County area with medical issues.

At Sunday's event, there was face painting, balloon twisters and the B-Mets and B-Sens mascots.

"Before the race even began, we had enough money raised to do four rooms and we had a lot more people register today so hopefully we can do even more," said Sehn.

In six years, A Room to Heal has created around 40 rooms for kids. Priority is given to children who are expected to spend a prolonged period of time in their home, and who can benefit from the emotional and physical benefits a healing environment can provide.
