Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) They were grinning from ear to ear at the Discovery Center and we're not just talking about the kids.

The center hosted a Scarecrow Making Party.

Families enjoyed the sunshine and got together to make a new friend for the season.

The center provided the hay, posts, and other materials, while some people brought clothes and accessories to jazz up the scarecrows.

"This is our first year trying a scarecrow making party and it has been a lot of fun and the weather has cooperated, so what a great way to celebrate the fall," said Nicki Barnard, School Programs Coordinator of Discovery Center.

After the scarecrows were all stuffed up, they were placed along the Story Garden's "Walk of Fame."

Prizes were given in categories like most colorful, friendliest and funniest face.

The kids got to bring their new friends home afterwards.
