Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Revolutionary War walked right into one classroom this morning.

One colonial soldier took part in the action at Vestal Middle School this morning.

It was a chance for students take a trip back to the late 1700s with a presentation on the life of a soldier in that time.

The Social Studies teacher, Jeffrey Spierling, talked to seventh graders about life and hardships that took place during the Revolutionary War.

Kids could also check out colonial era artifacts like rifles, currency, bayonets and axes.

"I love history and I love telling all the different stories, the interesting things that don't make it into the textbooks to the students and trying to get them excited about the materials," said Spierling.

Props that were used for the presentation were funded by grants from the Vestal School Foundation.
