Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Firefighters respond to an apartment fire in Binghamton's southside.

It happened just after 9:00 A.M. Tuesday at an apartment complex at 1 Webster Court.

Binghamton Fire Duty Chief, Bryan O'Loughlin, says City workers at the nearby water filtration plant called the fire in.

The building has four apartments. The fire was in the bottom right unit. It's the only apartment occupied within the section.

O'Loughlin says it was contained to the unit's bedroom. Binghamton firefighters had the blaze out within a few minutes.

The occupant of the apartment was not home at the time at the time of the fire.

O'Loughlin says there is smoke damage throughout the section of the building.

Binghamton Fire Investigators were on scene working to determine the cause of the fire.
