Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A traffic stop leads to a drug bust in the Town of Dickinson.

Jihad T. Ray, 23, Johnson City, was arrested for having 20 small bags of heroin on him.

The Broome County Sheriff's Office pulled a black Jeep Cherokee over for an equipment violation around 8 a.m. Friday on Old Front Street.

During the stop, Ray, who was in the back seat, gave a false name to the deputies.

Deputies said he was trying to hide his name because he had a warrant for marijuana possession in Binghamton.

The driver of the car was ticketed for the equipment violation, and Ray was taken into custody.

During a pat down, a deputy found the 20 small bags of heroin.

Ray was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, class B felony, and criminal impersonation, class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in the Town of Dickinson Court and sent to the Broome County Jail. He was sent without bail, pending further action by the court.
