Overnight Fire at Nursing Home

Overnight Fire at Nursing Home

By WBNG News

An overnight fire in a nursing home forces some residents out of their warm beds this morning.

The Vestal Fire Department responded to a call after 2 this morning at Woodland Manor on Clubhouse Road.

Assistant chief Chris Lupold says a light fixture in a closet caught fire in the North win, and spread after some insulation caught fire.

15 to 20 people were evacuated from the wing into the lobby of the nursing home.

He says no one was injured.

"A Small, contained fire. Just smoldering insulation...more of a smoke condition than anything. Really no flames or anything like that." Said Lupold.

He also says the people should be allowed back into their rooms later this morning.
