Binghamton University Student Dies After Car Crash

A Binghamton University student is dead following a drunk-driving accident.

The accident happened Friday night around 11 o'clock in the Town of Caroline, in Tompkins County.

The Tompkins County Sheriffs Office says 4 BU students were in the car, and one was driving, along with a student from the University of Michigan.

The vehicle was traveling east on Route 79 when the car struck a tree.

One of the students from BU suffered a serious head injury.

The student was taken to Cayuga Medical Center, then to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.

The University has confirmed the student then died.

The driver was 20 year-old Rolyden Liu of Huntington New York.

Liu was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, as well as Vehicular Assault in the Second Degree.

He was arraigned in the Town of Caroline Court and taken to the Tompkins County Jail.
