Fire crews remained at 18 Jarvis Street today to cool off hot-spots.

The fire at the old Empire Lumber Building is labeled suspicious.

Investigators say it started just before 9 last night in the back of the building.

That's where two structures come together.

"Do to the fact that it's a vacant building there shouldn't have been anybody on the property. There's really no other way for the fire to have started, other than some type of human involvement" says Binghamton Fire Department Lieutenent Tom Hardin.

The building is owned by {ALl-sah-heli} Alisaheli Hussain of Binghamton.

Binghamton police say he owes 85 thousand dollars in back taxes on the building.
