Final Flood Giveaway At Conklin Relief Center

Final Flood Giveaway At Conklin Relief Center

By WBNG News

400 cans of paint, 200 windows and 100 doors...

Those are just some of the materials that were given away at the Conklin Flood Relief Center.

More than 130 families came out to this final flood giveaway.

It helps people still recovering from the June 2006 flood.

There was everything from hardware and furniture, to plumbing and electrical supplies.

The center will close by June 28th.

Everything must be cleared out.

Flood Relief Center Coordinator Greg Jenkins says, "It's great to see that most of the people have recovered. But at the same time, it's been a very emotional roller coaster for everybody involved, and we're just really happy we could serve in any way we could."

After flood victims had first dibs, the warehouse opened up to the general public.

The center is funded by the Broome County Council of Churches.
