Vestal Buyout Homes Soon To Be Demolished

And in Vestal a number of homes ravaged by the June 2006 flood will soon be demolished.

Starting May 19th, 14 homes in this Castle Gardens neighborhood will be taken down.

The demolition should take about three weeks.

The Town Supervisor says all the homes received a buyout from FEMA.

After the wreckage is cleared, the area will become a green zone.

Meaning no homes, buildings, or businesses will be able to build in the area.

It must stay quote "forever green".

A park or playground could be placed in the area.

But it would have to be approved by FEMA.
