Two people are dead after a head on car crash in the Town of Norwich.

The accident occurred on State Highway Route 12, shortly after 5 o'clock Saturday evening.

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office says 19 year-old Cameron Gilbert of Greene was driving south when his vehicle crossed the center line, and struck another vehicle head on.

He was charged with unlawful possesion of marijuana, and failure to keep right.

Gilbert was treated for a broken wrist.

The driver of the other vehicle, 43 year-old Kimberly Riopel, of Greene was killed instantly.

The passenger in her car, 33 year-old Brian Knapp of Binghamton, was air-lifted to Wilson Hospital.

Knapp was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Another passenger was in the car, but suffered minor injuries.
