Defense Asks For Mistrial
Testimony is underway began in the case against 49 year-old Dean Sacco of New Jersey, and 46 year-old Linda O'Connor of Norwich. They're facing charges of sex trafficking and child pornography in federal court in Binghamton. A girl from Norwich claims the pair forced her into sex to settle rent payments. She also claims they took pictures. Monday morning, Dean Sacco's attorney, Kelly Fisher, asked the court for a mistrial. Fisher based her argument on testimony from Sacco's former landlord. The landlord told the court that Sacco referred to the alleged victim as a 12 year old prostitute and admitted to sleeping with her. The landlord said he hadn't told anyone before taking the stand last Friday. Fisher argued that because the defense team never heard about the alleged admission it was not able to investigate the claim before trial. Fisher asked the judge for a mistrial or at least a continuance. Both motions were denied. The former landlord was back on the stand Monday morning. Most Popular |
