On May 14, 2008, the New York State Police at Homer investigated a two vehicle accident on State Route 41, in the Town of Solon. The collision occurred at the intersection of State Route 41 and Maybury Road at approximately 8:13am.

Driver 1, (Morris E. Hallstead, 81 years old, 4763 Freetown Crossing Road, East Freetown, New York) was driving his 1996 Chevrolet Corsica easterly on State Route 41. Mr. Hallstead attempted a left turn onto Maybury Road. Driver 2, (James D. Huss, 43 years old, 5745 Deerpath Lane, Cincinnatus, New York) was riding his 1985 Honda motorcycle westerly on State Route 41.

The collision ejected Driver 2 (James Huss), who sustained fatal injuries. Driver 1 (Hallstead) was issued a uniform traffic ticket – Failing to Yield Right of Way. The New York State Police, Troop “C” Accident Reconstruction Unit investigated the collision and results are pending.
