Three Binghamton Schools on NYS High Performing/Gap Closing List
Two Others Named “Rapidly Improving”

Three Binghamton City School District elementary schools have been recognized for meeting all applicable New York State standards for English Language Arts (ELA) and math during the 2006-07 school year and also made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in ELA and math for two consecutive years.

Calvin Coolidge Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Elementary and Theodore Roosevelt Elementary were all named to the list of “High Performing/Gap Closing”schools. The list was released today by the NYS Board of Regents and the State Education Department.

In addition, Benjamin Franklin Elementary and Woodrow Wilson Elementary were named as “Rapidly Improving” schools, defined as those that were below the State standards in one or more subjects but showed improvement and made AYP in 2004-2005, 2005-2006 and 2006-2007.
