Groundbreaking for New Corporate Headquarters

By WBNG News

Groundbreaking begins the building of a new business mecca.

Leaders in Broome County lift their shovels to celebrate the start of construction.

The former Anitic site in Binghamton is the future home to the Charles Street Business Park, and Emerson Network Power.

New York State invested one million dollars to provide water, sewer, roads and utility connections to the 33 acre site.

It is part of New York's Upstate Economic Revitalization effort.

"This is going to generate a lot more activity and help the entire neighborhood. Help the Clinton Street area, and the neighbors are very excited about it. To be able to see that type of energy come back to the first ward is wonderful," says Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala

The Broome County Industrial Development Agency is matching the state's 1 million dollar investment to complete the project.

The Charles Street park will have room for up to 7 businesses.
