The Johnson City Mayor suspends Fire Chief Henry Michalovic.
Trustee Dennis Hannon tells Action News the Mayor took the action Monday.

Michalovic is suspended without pay pending a hearing on misconduct charges.
Hannon says it does stem from an investigation into the misappropriation of public funds.

Mayor Harry Lewis was out of town for the day.
Hannon says the administrative hearing will take place at village hall but no date has been set.

Michalovic has been Fire Chief since 2001.
In his absence, Fire Marshal Robert Dempsey will lead the JC Fire Department.

Hannon recently requested an audit to look at issues concerning the village payroll.

He says the Johnson City Police Department is also conducting a separate investigation.
