By Jessica Light

The local Ukrainian community marks the 75th anniversary of the Ukraine genocide.

They gathered at city hall to remember the forced famine that killed 10 million people from 1932 to 1933..

A torch is making its way around the world so people don't forget what happened.

It will stop in 33 countries and 23 U.S. cities.

The torch was supposed to arrive in Binghamton today, but was held up in Yonkers.

"This is important to us and we also have some people who are in our community who have lived through the famine. So we have kind of eye witness accounts also." says Maria Zobniw of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America.

Mayor Ryan declared today Ukrainian Genocide Remembrance Day.
