It took 116 days, now an Endicott native is resting his feet after finishing a 28 hundred mile run honoring his cousin.

Andrew Wahila, along with his SUNY Oneonta classmates Matt Durkin and Ken Stannard ran from Georgia all the way to California in honor of his cousin, Philip Diaferio.

Diaferio, a soldier home on leave from Iraq, died last November in a crash in Endicott.

It was the memory of Diaferio that got Wahila and his companions through the long trek.

Wahila says "..he was a big motivation for us..personally me, and as the trip went on, especially matt.. Matt was very interested in his life, and I told many stories to matt on the trip about him.."

Family and friends were at the finish line waiting to greet the exhausted runners..

Wahila and his friends are now resting in San Diego.

But they'll lace their shoes up again, this time to run in Sunday's rock and roll marathon.
