Conklin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The town of Conklin will lose a lot of taxpayer dollars this year due to homes devastated by the September 2011 flooding.

However, Supervisor Jim Finch said the town is going to try and "follow the lead of the county" with this year's budget.

County Executive Debbie Preston's proposed budget for Broome County has no budget increases and no tax increases.

Finch would not comment on specifics regarding the town's spending proposal.

"Our department heads are really holding their nose to the grindstone. And we're trying to move forward with the least amount of money that will cost our residents and our taxpayers. So if we can get it down to a zero and make a lot of cuts without losing a lot of services then that's what we're going to do," said Finch.

There will be a public hearing on the proposed 2013 Conklin town budget on October 23.
