Fuels Drives Home Improvements Over Holiday

By WBNG News

High fuel prices have some you staying at home...to work on your home.

Thursday night, shoppers at Lowe's in Vestal wanted to put their three-day weekend to good use.

Instead of plunging their cash into the gas tank, they're putting it towards their house.

"You put money in the house you're going to see it all the time. When you put money in the gas, it's just gone." said Maria Gonzalez of Vestal.

"We're new to the area so we don't have a lot of family here. Plus the gas prices and the food is more expensive. Everything is more expensive. So we're just kind of staying put."said Rhonda Syson of Newark Valley.

Assistant Manager Yancey More says the store is busy this weekend with people buying everything from grills to supplies for remodeling their kitchen.
