State Police Investigate Accidental Drowning

The New York State Police in Ithaca are investigating an accidental drowning, which occurred on August 17, 2008, at approximately 2:55 P.M. at 3123 State Route 26 in the Town of Cincinnatus.

Investigation revealed 9 year old Cuylie Case was swimming in an inflatable pool containing two and a half feet of water.

Case was playing in the pool with her twelve year old cousin. The twelve year old lost sight of Case for an unknown period of time. The twelve year old searched and found Case lying in the water near a partially submerged pool cover.

The twelve year old pulled Case from the water and sought help from Case’s father, Donald Case, who was working nearby. CPR was commenced by family members and Cuylie Case was transported to Cortland Regional Medical Center and placed on life support.

Case was transferred to University Hospital in Syracuse. Case succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced at 9:10 A.M. on 08/18/08. An autopsy is to be performed by the Onondaga County Medical Examiners Office. The investigation is continuing.
