Progress in Blocking Child Porn

By WBNG News

Five more internet providers have signed on to block child pornography.

State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was in Binghamton today to make the announcement.

The companies, including LocalNet and Frontier, will now purge their servers of child porn sites.

Cuomo says the internet is a great educational resource for children.

But warns parents of the dangers as well.

"We have to balance both. And we're trying to figure out the dangers and who's responsible and how to reduce them and what's the role of law enforcement, and what's the role for the parent and what's the role for the child. But the dangers are very real," said Cuomo.

With today's announcement, the total number of internet service providers who have signed on to block child pornography websites is now 15 in our area.

Including Time Warner Cable.
