Sherburne-Earlville Principal Keith Reed remains in critical condition tonight after a motorcycle crash last week.

Tonight, the district discussed it's options, as the new school year is right around the corner.

The Sherburne-Earlville community is pulling together in support of high school principal Keith Reed.

"Well loved by the students. He cares very much about everybody and I don't know anyone who cares as much about this students than he does and its obvious with the response he's gotten from the community," said Assistant Principal Grant Woodward.

Assistant Principal Grant Woodward will now serve as acting principal.

Reed remains in critical condition after a motorcycle crash last Friday.

It happened here on the corner of Route 4 and Route 12 in Oxford.

Police say 43 year old Randy Cooper of Oxford made a left hand turn onto Route 12, colliding with Reed and sending him off of his motorcycle.

Cooper was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.

With school just around the corner, the superintendent says they are still on track.

"We certainly know the course we're taking for this year. Mr. Reed and Mr. Woodward worked closely together. So they have planned out the whole initiatives for the school year," said Superintendent Gayle Hellert.

Woodward says Reed taught him well but he has big shoes to fill in the meantime.

"We're all hoping that he hurries up and comes back. And this place won't be the same without him," said Woodward.

The district has set up a web page, www.secsd.org, where you can sign on and get updates on Reed's condition.

The first day of classes in the district is Wednesday September 3rd.
